Chris scores big with non-stop Oregon Coast fishing action!

Hot bite and happy crew! Tami and their crew joined us for an early morning fall adventure on the Oregon Coast. Cloudy skies throughout the day with morning rain set the stage for our crabbing expedition. We launched at first light with Pacific Odyssey Dory Charters for our Share the Boat, Pull Oregon Coast Crab Pots trip.

With our gear rigged and ready, we focused on crab potting in the productive flats off Pacific City. The Oregon Coast flats are perfect for this technique because the shallow waters hold plenty of Dungeness crab and the sandy bottom makes for easy pot placement. We pulled several pots throughout the morning and managed to boat some nice Coho Salmon as a bonus! The combination of crabbing and salmon fishing made for an epic day on the water.

The morning rain didn't slow us down one bit. Our crew worked the pots like pros and we filled our limits with quality crab. Game changer when you can combine techniques and species like this! We wrapped up the trip with buckets loaded and smiles all around.

If you're looking to experience the Oregon Coast crab fishing action, don't miss out on our Join Fellow Guests for a Hands-On Day of Crabbing with Help from the Crew adventure! The Share the Boat, Pull Oregon Coast Crab Pots trips are fantastic for anglers wanting to learn crab potting techniques while enjoying the productive flats around Pacific City. Captain Eugene Gruhlke grew up with salt in his veins and a rod in his hands. Raised near the rugged Pacific shoreline, his passion for fishing began at an early age, inspired by time spent with his father chasing salmon runs and learning the art of crabbing on the Oregon Coast. Over the years, what started as a weekend hobby turned into a lifelong pursuit of mastering the waters and giving others the chance to fall in love with the ocean, just like he did. Eugene’s approachable nature and love for teaching make him not just a captain, but a friend to every guest who steps aboard. With decades of experience navigating Oregon’s dynamic marine environment, Captain Eugene has earned a reputation as one of the most reliable and skilled Oregon Coast fishing guides. He’s a U.S. Coast Guard-certified captain who prioritizes safety above all else, ensuring every charter is conducted with professionalism, attentiveness, and expert care. Whether you're joining him for deep sea fishing in the Oregon Coast or a more relaxed nearshore outing, you can count on Eugene to put you on the fish and help you make the most of your trip. He’s known for running some of the most family-friendly fishing charters in Oregon, always ready with a helpful hand, a joke, and the patience to teach newcomers the ropes. Beyond the boat, Captain Eugene is deeply involved in local conservation efforts and community outreach programs focused on sustainable fishing practices. He participates in coastal clean-ups, youth angling events, and advocates for responsible harvesting to protect the Oregon fishery for future generations. He’s also been featured in regional fishing reports for his consistently productive trips and sharp understanding of seasonal fish behavior. What truly sets Eugene apart is his dedication—not just to catching fish, but to creating an unforgettable experience rooted in respect for the ocean and the people who fish it.
